WE THE PEOPLE

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”—Preamble to the US Constitution

Congress persons, military members, and others swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States.  According to the preamble this means they will act to ensure domestic tranquility, provide for defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to themselves and posterity.  

If upholding these principles were a report card, how do our current representatives score? Overall, probably no better than a C minus.  And for many that grade is generous.  For some We the People means we will hold onto power by any means necessary, including re-litigating the results of elections, and caving into the dictatorial rantings of the former president.

What are they afraid of?  Answer:  he will rail against them during primary season and deny them a continuation of their status and power.  Even though he is under investigation for tax fraud and possible criminal charges by the state of New York.

Some are upset and contend they want to move on and have voted not to form a commission to look at the origins and lessons of the capitol insurrection on January 6.  They know the likely outcome will be that the former prez was instrumental in encouraging the rioters to come to the capitol, fight like hell, and egged them on.  The former prez says it is a Democrat trap.  Well, if you don’t want to get caught in a trap, don’t put your foot in it in the first place.

It is hard to move on without looking at history.  They say that those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.  Does that mean we’ll have another insurrection?  Possibly.  It has happened in other countries.  It can happen here if We the People are not vigilant.
